Announcing Rewind's Methodology: Framework Protocol for Marine Terrestrial Biomass Storage

May 30, 2024

Today, Rewind is proud to release our comprehensive Framework Protocol for Marine Terrestrial Biomass Storage (MTBS) for public consultation. This is a huge milestone for our company, arriving after almost two years of work and just in time for Oceans Month. The time invested in research, writing, and expert reviews makes this protocol a landmark in marine CDR, leveraging the unique properties of anoxic marine environments.

This innovative yet simple framework details our approach to quantifying net carbon removal while monitoring and preserving the aquatic environment. We believe this is essential not only for Rewind’s objectives but also for setting a high bar for responsible implementation of mCDR. The MTBS Protocol will be open for public consultation for the next 30 days until June 30, 2024!

Commitment to Accuracy, Transparency & Sustainability

Our protocol was developed in collaboration with scientists, environmentalists, engineers, maritime operators, and carbon market experts. We've engaged with over 20 leading organizations to develop a framework that not only meets but exceeds current expectations for ecological safety and effectiveness in carbon dioxide removal.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has played a pivotal role in reaching this milestone.

Get Involved!

As we move forward, Rewind is committed to refining our techniques based on ongoing research and feedback from the global scientific community. We encourage feedback and discussion on our protocol and invite interested parties to read our Framework Protocol and provide us with any kind of feedback.
