Renowned professor specializing in ancient ocean biogeochemistry and sulfur cycle evolution. Researches global impacts on carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and metals, revealing crucial roles of sulfide oxidation intermediates in sulfur biogeochemistry.
Renowned professor of marine geomicrobiology at UCLA's Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences and Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences departments. She directs the IoES Marine Center, holding both a biology diploma and PhD from Germany.
